Dr Sandeep Prabhu (Sunny) was born in Sydney and has lived in Melbourne for over 20 years. Sunny graduated from Medicine and Law from Monash University in 2005 and trained in cardiology at the Alfred, Royal Melbourne and Frankston Hospitals. He undertook sub-speciality training in electrophysiology (rhythm disorders) and device implantation at the Alfred and Royal Melbourne hospitals, and was an overseas fellow at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, Europe’s largest arrhythmia centre.

Sunny completed a PhD focussing on atrial fibrillation and heart failure which received numerous accolades, including a nomination for the Victorian Premier’s Award for Health and Medical Research and the prestigious Ralph Reader Young Investigator award. This centrepiece clinical trial is now incorporated into national and international treatment guidelines. He is widely published with currently 40 peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents at both local and international conferences. He remains an active researcher supported by the National Health and Medical Research Council and Heart Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowships at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Research Institute.

Sunny is an emerging leader in the field of electrophysiology and is dedicated to providing comprehensive management for all rhythm disorders. In addition to pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, he performs ablation procedures for atrial fibrillation, SVT and ventricular tachycardia, and has a particular interest in the latest mapping technologies and X-ray-free or minimal radiation procedures. He has an appointment at the Alfred Hospital as an electrophysiologist. He regularly consults at Baw Baw Physicians including running a regular pacemaker clinic.

Sunny is married with two young children. When he is not working, his hobbies include travelling, spending time with his family, distance running, tennis and dabbling in carpentry and drawing.
