Dr Louise Segan - Cardiologist
Dr Louise Segan is a Cardiologist and PhD researcher in Victoria. Her research focuses predominantly on atrial fibrillation and its management, including risk factor modification and heart failure management.
Dr Segan and her research team are conducting two randomised clinical trials, one is examining the impact of AF ablation in patients with AF and heart failure and the other exploring the feasibility of reducing heart medications in patients with treated AF and recovered heart failure.
Dr Segan also supervised the rapid access AF clinic at the alfred hospital, which aims to improve AF education and management and reduce the time to accessing specialist care for those with a new diagnosis of AF.
Through her research and clinical work, Dr Segan hopes to improve outcomes for patients with AF and heart failure as well as improve access to specialist care and enhance communication between clinicians and patients.
