Dr Kyaw Hlaing (Joe)

Dr Kyaw Htet Hlaing (Joe) is a clinical haematologist at Latrobe Regional Hospital. He has previously worked in many regional cities across Australia including Hamilton, Ballarat and Wodonga in VIC, Gosford and Wyong in NSW and Toowoomba in QLD. After finishing basic physician training through Peninsula Health, Joe undertook advanced training in Haematology at The Alfred, Monash and Box Hill hospitals. Joe was also a clinical trial fellow at Box Hill hospital managing patients on various clinical trials for amyloidosis, myeloma, lymphoma, leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
Joe’s pursuit of a career in haematology stems from his keen interest in complex science and rapid advances in the field. He is a PhD graduate in 2013 from National University of Singapore studying the role of nitric oxide signalling in carcinogenesis. He enjoys looking after the regional community and is happy to manage patients with both malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions.
